Summer Time, Summer Time, Sum-, Sum-, Summer Time !

Hard to believe we've already passed the 'longest' day of the year! Geez! Having a great summer here! Started out with a great vacation to Virginia and North Carolina. We were with family for three days. So relaxing and great to see everyone and 'catch up'. Had great fun at Jennifer's graduation/new career party! We did take the hint, though, when the picnic table tipped from all of our weight on one side! Nothing like wearing your lunch instead of eating it!

Monday afternoon and Tuesday we spent in Cary, North Carolina (quaint little town on the west side of Raleigh). Really liked the Cary area, but didn't care for the super highways surrounding it. But maybe the great quilt shop (Etcetera Crafts) that we visited would make up for that? Interesting enough, one of the well-known Autism schools was just down the street from our hotel, Mariposa School for Autism. We didn't stop in, but we have some of their curriculum here at home!

Wednesday afternoon and Thursday we spent in the Asheville area. We weren't really thrilled with Asheville itself, although we did enjoy a walk through the mall and stopped at the Biltmore gift shop. Thursday we drove down to Flat Rock and back up to Hendersonville. Flat Rock looks like a very nice place to hang out! We walked downtown Hendersonville and got some souvenirs at the Mast General Store . I found a great t-shirt in the Kilwin's Ice Cream shop!

We headed north on Friday morning early enough to drive through Mars Hill, North Carolina (where my Grandmother Morton was born) and then took the 'scenic' route to get back over to route 40 and Knoxville! Stayed the night in Lexington, KY, where we met a really nice family that had adopted three (3) children (two from Russia, one from Guatamala) and had two (2) biological children. The girls really took to Grace in the pool!

Back home now, we've gotten the pool all set up and Grace started her summer school today! Got a great first-day report from her clinician, Megan. We are so fortunate to be in the Perrysburg School system and appreciate that they provide this opportunity for Grace (she loves riding the bus this year!).

Enjoy the slideshow!

How Fun! Looks like you are really enjoying the summer! Love the ice cream t-shirt! Grace is such a little lady now. How does that happen that they grow up so quickly! Glad to hear she loves school. That's the most important thing! I'm hoping the summer goes very slowly! Enjoy!
